Mahon Ranch Hops & Brew Fest
September 28 @ 2:00 pm–8:00 pm
The 2nd annual Mahon Ranch Hops and Brew fest is an event for anyone who would enjoy spending a day learning about Elk Grove’s rich hop history on a historic ranch, while learning the genetics and enjoying local craft beers. Elk Grove breweries will be serving their latest brews, some of which will highlight the rich 125 year history of hops grown along the Consumes River with specific beers, available only at the event. There will be ‘new era’ hop varieties as well as traditional/historic hops from some of the original 1860’s vines still growing wild in the River bottomland.
There will be docent lead wagon ride tours of the Mahon Ranch on wagons pulled by vintage tractors. After reviewing the display of historic hops processing equipment, the tours will ride along scenic Deer Creek to the hop fields.
There will also be a Classic Car Show staged by a local car club, an antique carriage display presented by a local carriage collectors group, a special presentation (musket firing?) by Civil War reenactors, and live entertainment with a country band and a classic rock band. Food by the Brickhouse. Colors will be presented by American Legion Elk Grove Post 233.
