Awards Judge – Robin Johnson
Robin Johnson’s work is rooted in representation and perception. Her practice explores relationships within physical and psychological environments through merging her traditional training and digital background. Depicting familiar and memorable objects and places, she uses experiences from her past to create non-linear allegories in which the scene shifts between portraiture and narration. Her imagery reflects the iconic natural and cultural milieu of Southern California while attending to specific issues of culture, gender, and the environment.
Robin is an Assistant Professor of Art at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, CA. She received her MFA in Painting from the Laguna College of Art + Design, studying under Patty Wickman, Wes Christensen, Brad Coleman, Scott Hess, and Pamela Wilson. Previously, she taught at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Loyola Marymount University, and Fullerton College. She also served as an archivist and studio assistant for noted California artist, Tony Dela.
