3. Although our city was incorporated on July 1, 2000, Elk Grove was founded in the 1800s.
In the heart of our great city is Old Town Elk Grove, a National Register of Historic Places Historic District. Many buildings within Old Town date back to the 1800s. Explore restaurants, shops and a whole lotta’ history while visiting this gem in Elk Grove. Local tavern Bob’s Club is home to Elk Grove’s oldest building. It’s also open 365 days a year – the perfect spot to unwind during your trip.
Just outside of Old Town Elk Grove, there are additional sites listed as California Historical Landmarks. These include the grave of a Donner Party survivor and the grave of the last possible survivor of the group traveling with Lewis and Clark on their famed exploration.
