The Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is a convenient gateway to Northern California and is just a short drive to and from Elk Grove. The airport welcomes flights from a dozen major airlines — including American Airlines, Southwest, United and Delta — with nonstop service to and from over 40 cities. The airport immediately immerses travelers into the region’s dynamic public art, with sculptures, murals and other installations found throughout Terminals A and B.

The SuperShuttle Express service offers travelers an easy, affordable way to travel between SMF and Elk Grove via a non-stop, private shuttle that accommodates up to 4 passengers. Once your flight details are confirmed, reservations may be made online, with the shuttle transporting you from the terminal doors to the heart of Elk Grove.
Rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft and Wingz also provide pick-up and drop off service from the airport, with local taxi service available as well.
Elk Grove is easily accessible to those traveling by car, thanks to our close proximity to California State Route 99 (CA-99) and Interstate 5 (I-5). CA-99 runs straight through the heart of the city and with an exit less than a mile from our historic Old Town, while I-5 borders western Elk Grove. Both highways connect Elk Grove with other major cities such as Sacramento, Stockton and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Navigating Elk Grove by car is one of the more convenient ways to reach our many parks, shops, restaurants, breweries and wineries, with parking lots and spaces available at many businesses and shopping centers throughout the city. Street parking is free throughout Elk Grove, with only a few select paid parking lots and spaces in Old Town, all of which are clearly marked.
Car rental companies are also available within Elk Grove, including Enterprise, Hertz and Budget — all of which are conveniently located just off of CA-99.
As part of the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) (formerly Elk Grove Transit Services, or eTran), public transportation via bus serves as a convenient way to travel around Elk Grove. More than 15 commuter and local bus routes are available, including e-van and ADA service within Elk Grove’s city limits. Riders can track their bus and plan their travel with the help of apps and other resources available from SacRT.
Home to over 90 parks, Elk Grove is a joy to explore in the open air, either by biking, walking, or running on our over 35 miles of trails. The City of Elk Grove’s map of area bike routes outlines different types of trails throughout the city, including multi use trails and protected bike lanes. A newly opened 1,400-foot-long bridge spans CA-99, allowing bikers, runners and pedestrians to easily move between east and west Elk Grove.
Newly opened ebike outfitter, Pedego, offers ebike rentals for riders looking for a more efficient ride around the city.
Runners can stock up on shoes, water bottles, and running apparel at local outfitters, such as Fleet Feet. Those looking to run as part of a group, Fleet Feet offers weekly run clubs, including a collaboration with Flatland Brewing Company.
